I wish more people knew about this great event, it's the Derbyshire Park Rangers Monthly Cycle Ride. Whenever The Park Rangers secures the funding for this from either local or central government, they will run several cycle events during the year. All you need to do is fill in their form, they will even pick you up from your home and drop you back! So, absolutely no excuses not to go!
Please call Chris Porter on 01629 816288 and book your place now for the next event:-
1:30pm, Tuesday, 4th October 16 at Hulme End Car Park
I think this is their last scheduled cycle event for the year, before they re-start in 2017
So, put it on your calendar!
The Park Rangers will provide the cycles and there a few types to choose from and 2 guides, sometimes these cycle rides are also a history, fauna & flora tour. It's one of my favourite events that I attend all around the Peak District. So, I absolutely insist you go!
We started at Minninglow Car Park which is behind Pikehall, onto the Peak Trail through Longcliffe and Brassington and we could see Carsington Waters in the distance and we turned around at this point.
BAKEWELL GROUP WALK at ALPORT
MapMyWalk App Stats: 3.20 Miles for 1H:27M:11S at 27:14 minutes per mile
Time & Date: 10am, Thursday 8th September
SatNav: DE45
My usual Thursday morning walk with Derbsyhire Walk for Life Group with a break at Cafe in Youlgrave. It's always so much fun with this group, come along and join us next week at 10am on Thursday, 15th September at Calver (Park by Church). I asked Charles to come along as it's a nice and easy walk.
It's a walk starting from Alport walking along the River Bradford, absolutely serene and gorgeous river. Then, through Mawstone Lane, up Holywell Lane, Moor Lane, walk past All Saints Church in Youlgrave and then back down to Alport.
Apologies for this picture as it's only my little Samsung Galaxy J5 as we spotted a heron on the river, that little dot in the clear blue sky as it flew away as we were walking closer towards to it.
Oh well?

It was just Sue and me today using one of her walking books. We decided to begin early and for a change, we made a good and easy start as the book was simple and easy to follow. We started breaking away from Baslow and walk on a hill and had amazing views either side of us. Then, we came across a lone Highland cow on its own, Sue and I played it cautiously and walked around it and believe it ot not, we came across it again when we got back! Amazing! Beautiful and such a pretty cattle breed.
Then, not long after we saw what we can only describe as a tomb stone and it had a plaque on it which I googled when I got home, but was unable to identify it.
Do drop me a comment if you have seen it too as it was very interesting. Apologies, for some strange reason I didn't take a photo of the structure but here's the plaque.
Then, we followed the book right up to the car park on the other side and flipped back but we must have made a mistake and it was supposed to be a circular walk but we eventually wound back onto the same track. All in all, a magic and superb walk.
Then, Sue suggested going to her friend's cafe at Tideswell where I had one of the best breakfast I've had for years and it was a veggie one too. You must go to Vanilla Kitchen, top top class food! I very rarely insert a photo of myself on my blogs, so here's one of me. Hey, check out the views behind me!
